Turfgrass Producers of Texas was chartered in 1972 by turf producers in Texas to promote the well being of Texas sod producers through dissemination of educational materials and to increase the quality of sod sold by encouraging members to adopt new management practices.

The purpose of the Association is to maintain a trade association of individuals and firms engaged in the business of producing and marketing sod in the State of Texas.

The objectives of the Association are as follows:

1. To promote the general welfare of the sod industry in Texas
2. To encourage the exchange of scientific and practical knowledge relating to the production and marketing of sod.
3. To encourage adherence to higher standards in business practices.
4. To promote and encourage greater interest in the use of cultivated sod.
5. To cooperate closely with divisions of government and public and private organizations whose activities affect the sod industry.
